CRISP has launched a new consent tool, which enables Substance Use Disorder (SUD) providers who have executed a qualified service agreement (QSOA) to share data protected by 42 CFR Part 2 through the HIE upon patient consent. This tool aims to improve care coordination between SUD providers and other health care providers, strengthen continuity of care for patients throughout SUD treatment levels, and ease workflow burden when obtaining consent and disclosing information.

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Mental Health (MH) data, masked in the HIE due to federal and state regulations, can be shared with the patient’s care team upon receiving patient consent. Patient care team members may register patient consent during an in-person encounter with the patient directly in the Consent Tool. A paper version of the consent form is also available for telehealth and in-person visits, but all paper consents must be registered later via the Consent Tool online. The patient’s SUD and MH information will stay masked until the consent is registered via the Consent Tool online.
Consent Tool tab is now available for users with clinical access in the HIE Portal and InContext App Users (Embedded in your EHR).
